Celebrate the Olympics with Our Twitter Race

Did you watch the London 2012 Olympics opening ceremony? We did and we absolutely loved the all-British theme from the industrial revolution right through to Her Majesty The Queen leaping out of an airplane with James Bond!

So far we have also delighted in the events that have been held and Team GB’s collection of medals and achievements so far. So inspired by their progress, at Edward Baden we’ve decided to hold our own race on Twitter.

Make sure you follow us on Twitter as we announce our Twitter Race where you could win a free day’s consultancy*. All you have to do to win is be the first person to message us with the day’s gold medal winners. Watch out for our special tweets to find out more

A Guide to Packing Materials From The Relocation Specialists

At Edward Baden, we don’t just deal with office relocation but also home removals too. Although we offer a comprehensive service which takes care of everything from pre-move planning to packing, removal to unpacking again, many of our clients prefer to pack their items themselves. This is fine by us but we thought that we’d put together this handy guide on the types of packing materials that can be used, along with what they are suitable for.

1 – Bubblewrap – bubblewrap is made from two sheets of polythene which are stuck together using a machine that traps air in between the sheets. This air acts as a cushion if the item wrapped in it is bumped or dropped, helping to stop the item from getting damaged. It is ideal for many things found within your home such as wrapping ornaments, plates and mirrors. However it’s important to note that it is not suitable for paintings or other pieces of fine art. This is due to the fact that chemicals used in the production of bubblewrap can cause damage to canvases whilst it can also trap heat and moisture which causes ‘sweating’ or even mould to occur.

2 – Packing Peanuts – packing peanuts are peanut shaped pieces of polystyrene and are wonderful for placing around a series of small items that are packed together in a box. Similar to bubblewrap, they will help cushion the contents of a box from bumps and blows.

3 – Foam – foam usually comes on large rolls and it easy to use. Simply unroll the required length, cut off and wrap around the desired item. Foam will help to absorb the impact of drops or bumps helping to protect the item inside. As with bubblewrap, due to the chemicals used in the production of the foam, it’s not suitable for using to pack paintings.

4 – Breathable Fabric – although breathable fabric will not absorb much of an impact, it is ideal for wrapping around objects that might get scratched or torn such as glass or paintings.

If you would like any further assistance or advice about packing, or would like to know more about our domestic relocation service, please contact us.

An Insight into What We Do: Our Work with Epson

At Edward Baden, we are proud of each and every relocation project that we undertake. After each job has been completed, we ask our clients to provide comprehensive feedback which enables us to analyse our effectiveness and offer better service levels to all our customers, whether big or small in the future.

With this in mind, we’d like to take this opportunity to share with you a relocation project we recently did for Epson which had the added complexity of moving the contents of vast storage rooms, as well as a high number of staff.

As a little background information, Epson UK Ltd has a strong reputation as being an innovation leader in the imaging market. Their ground-breaking new product developments are often showcased at exhibitions around Europe and they have two central offices – one in the UK and the other elsewhere in Europe.

When Epson had the need to relocate their entire UK office, including 235 staff, a large amount of office equipment as well as the contents of large storage rooms, those chose us to do the job based on our excellent customer service levels.

In order to undertake such a large job in the most efficient manner possible, we first assigned Epson with a dedicated project manager from the Edward Baden team who assessed the relocation needs of the company and then put together a comprehensive project delivery plan to ensure the job would be done with the least disruption to staff and the operations of the business itself.

We are pleased to announce that the entire move went to plan and was completed both in budget and to the pre-agreed deadline. Drew Goodwin, Facilities Manager at Epson, even said that we did a ‘fantastic job’.

At Edward Baden, we have experience working in these challenging environments.
