Christmas at Edward Baden

While many other offices have wound down for the Christmas holidays and shut up shop for a week, we here at Edward Baden HQ have been working hard to ensure that all of your needs are met in the run up to Christmas.
Whether it’s helping you move in time for Christmas, putting your items in storage to make room for the tree, delivering those much needed plastic crates to hold the wine for the office party, or transporting your favorite piece of Christmas art work, the team here at Edward Baden and its sister companies, Cube Self Storage, Cube RMS, Cube Fine Art Services and Easycrate, have been working tirelessly to ensure that all of your Christmas moving wishes come true. Not stopping here, if you have any queries or requests over the Christmas period, we will be in the office ready to take your call and keep your Christmas as stress free as possible.

But with all of this time dedicated to ensuring everyone else’s Christmases go off without a hitch, you might think that we have not had the opportunity to go out and celebrate ourselves. Well do not fret, our organisational skills have been put to the test and we would like to think, have been proved worthy; aside from a number of Christmas Carols in the office, we have also had joy of a Christmas dinner in Haywards Heath and a Lunchtime feast to keep up our festive spirits.
As you can see from the photos, we have thoroughly enjoyed the perks of the festive season with a drink, a dance and a delightful feast, so are ready and rearing to give some seasonal joy. The giving will not be stopping come January either, with all of this good food to gorge on, we feel we have been a little over indulgent this month, so come January the whole office will be taking part in a detox for our charity Chestnut Tree House, so please check back here next month to see how we’re getting along.

In the mean time we would like to wish you all the best for the festive season and the New Year.

Lewes Bonfire Night 2012

We know the moving business and we know if one ever needs a reason to move to Sussex it’s our annual bonfire celebrations.
When it comes to November the 5th, at Edward Baden we are firm believers that nowhere does it better than Sussex, with 3 months of Bonfire night celebrations culminating in the phenomenon that is Lewes Bonfire night.
It’s something that everyone should experience at least once so some of the team braved the cold and headed down for some week night entertainment and were certainly not disappointed!
Being held on a Monday there were reportedly half the number of people in attendance as last year’s Saturday celebrations and it was certainly noticeable. Far from being a negative however, the atmosphere created by the smaller crowds was much friendlier than previous years, and being able to move of one’s own accord was a definite bonus!
Lewes Bonfire Night

Once the procession ends there always remains the annual debate of whether to attend a bonfire or find a vantage point to see all the displays at once, but with the temperatures hovering just above freezing last night getting as close to a bonfire as possible seemed like the only sensible option. Not being affiliated with a society ourselves we were limited in options and chose to head along to the Commercial Square celebrations, and were certainly not disappointed by either the burning of effigies or the fireworks themselves.
All in all the night was thoroughly enjoyable and we can’t wait for the next one!
In the mean time if you decide to relocate to Sussex in time for next years celebrations speak to us so we can make your move go off without a bang!

The Uckfield Business Awards 2012

As sponsors of the event some of the Edward Baden team were fortunate enough to attend the Uckfield business awards last night, held at the East Sussex National Golf Course.
The Awards were launched this year to promote the achievements and diversity of the Uckfield Business Community and the surrounding area and did just that with speeches and comedy sketches throughout the night celebrating the best that Uckfield has to offer.
With 15 categories, every business in the town had the opportunity to be celebrated and notable winners included Pipe Dreams, winning the coveted retailer of the year award, and itmsoil for fastest growing business.
Although we weren’t nominated for an award this year we thoroughly enjoyed the night and will be working our socks off to make sure we have a place on the podium for 2013!
To ensure this happens we welcome all feedback and would love to know any thoughts you may have.
All in all the organisers did a tremendous job, the event was the huge success, and we look forward to the next one.

A Guide to Packing Materials From The Relocation Specialists

At Edward Baden, we don’t just deal with office relocation but also home removals too. Although we offer a comprehensive service which takes care of everything from pre-move planning to packing, removal to unpacking again, many of our clients prefer to pack their items themselves. This is fine by us but we thought that we’d put together this handy guide on the types of packing materials that can be used, along with what they are suitable for.

1 – Bubblewrap – bubblewrap is made from two sheets of polythene which are stuck together using a machine that traps air in between the sheets. This air acts as a cushion if the item wrapped in it is bumped or dropped, helping to stop the item from getting damaged. It is ideal for many things found within your home such as wrapping ornaments, plates and mirrors. However it’s important to note that it is not suitable for paintings or other pieces of fine art. This is due to the fact that chemicals used in the production of bubblewrap can cause damage to canvases whilst it can also trap heat and moisture which causes ‘sweating’ or even mould to occur.

2 – Packing Peanuts – packing peanuts are peanut shaped pieces of polystyrene and are wonderful for placing around a series of small items that are packed together in a box. Similar to bubblewrap, they will help cushion the contents of a box from bumps and blows.

3 – Foam – foam usually comes on large rolls and it easy to use. Simply unroll the required length, cut off and wrap around the desired item. Foam will help to absorb the impact of drops or bumps helping to protect the item inside. As with bubblewrap, due to the chemicals used in the production of the foam, it’s not suitable for using to pack paintings.

4 – Breathable Fabric – although breathable fabric will not absorb much of an impact, it is ideal for wrapping around objects that might get scratched or torn such as glass or paintings.

If you would like any further assistance or advice about packing, or would like to know more about our domestic relocation service, please contact us.

An Insight into What We Do: Our Work with Epson

At Edward Baden, we are proud of each and every relocation project that we undertake. After each job has been completed, we ask our clients to provide comprehensive feedback which enables us to analyse our effectiveness and offer better service levels to all our customers, whether big or small in the future.

With this in mind, we’d like to take this opportunity to share with you a relocation project we recently did for Epson which had the added complexity of moving the contents of vast storage rooms, as well as a high number of staff.

As a little background information, Epson UK Ltd has a strong reputation as being an innovation leader in the imaging market. Their ground-breaking new product developments are often showcased at exhibitions around Europe and they have two central offices – one in the UK and the other elsewhere in Europe.

When Epson had the need to relocate their entire UK office, including 235 staff, a large amount of office equipment as well as the contents of large storage rooms, those chose us to do the job based on our excellent customer service levels.

In order to undertake such a large job in the most efficient manner possible, we first assigned Epson with a dedicated project manager from the Edward Baden team who assessed the relocation needs of the company and then put together a comprehensive project delivery plan to ensure the job would be done with the least disruption to staff and the operations of the business itself.

We are pleased to announce that the entire move went to plan and was completed both in budget and to the pre-agreed deadline. Drew Goodwin, Facilities Manager at Epson, even said that we did a ‘fantastic job’.

If you would like to know more about our office relocation services, please click here. Alternatively, you can contact us on 0800 169 5309.
