Our Specialist Fields

At Edward Baden, we are proud of all of our services but we would like to take this opportunity to draw your attention to three of our specialist services:

Hotel Refurbishment – We are honoured to have worked with a number of hotel brands to undertake projects from bed installation to complete hotel refurbishments. Our specialist service in this field allows us to offer a range of services including removing redundant furniture in an environmentally friendly way and receiving and auditing new products whilst keeping disruption to a minimum.

Hospital and Laboratories – Our unrivalled preparation and planning are paramount to our success within these industries. As most hospitals and laboratories operate 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, it is very important that moves happen with the least hassle and disruption as possible, even when unforeseen circumstances occur. At Edward Baden, we have experience working in these challenging environments.

Factories and Machinery – The task of relocating a whole factory, especially where heavy machinery is involved is a huge undertaking. At Edward Baden, we have a specialist team of staff including engineers who are able to dismantle and reassemble heavy machinery, even where air, gas or water are used.

Our Desktop PC Relocation Service

Whether you’re moving your offices or relocating an entire call centre, at Edward Baden we can help make your move as smooth as possible. One of our most popular and very handy services is our Desktop PC Relocation Service.

You may think that moving some computer equipment is easy but just consider the logistics of moving 2 or 3 or maybe over 20 PCs, each of which needs to have the monitor, hard-drive, keyboard and mouse moving. Plus everything reconnected to the network so employees can access software and files. It’s no easy feat.

At Edward Baden we will do all this for you – plus more. We also audit all your IT equipment during the move to ensure you end up with exactly the same equipment as you started with. We will even document the preferred position of equipment at each desk so your employees experience the least possible upheaval – getting them back to work quicker. For example some employees prefer their monitor straight in front of them, some to the left or some to the right. We’ll make sure everything ends up a suitable position at each terminal after your office relocation.

We will work with you produce a relocation map layout and reinstall equipment in a predetermined order in your desired timeframe.

Keeping Track of Your IT Equipment

Whether you’ve recently undertaken an office relocation or are considering a business move, it’s important to get a complete audit of what your company has in terms of IT equipment. In a large business, it can be especially difficult as staff may move equipment around. One of the services we offer at Edward Baden as relocation specialists, is a full IT audit.

This is relatively straightforward to do and will require very little time on the part of your staff. We will come to your business premises and identify and tag all IT equipment, regardless of its location. For each item we will give you the following information:

Date – the date the audit was done which identified the equipment was within your business.
Item Description – a full description of the item including the make and model number.
Tag Number – the number of the tag we allocated to the individual item.
Current Location – the current location of the item. This will comprise of the desk number and office number, if applicable so you will be able to instantly find the item.
Value – the current value of the item.

Our IT audits are not only great for identifying equipment you thought was misplaced, but also ideal for providing to your insurance company. Regular IT audits going forward will also help to identify loss, theft or damage to equipment, as well as the flow of equipment through the premises.

Our IT Safety Procedures

Moving your existing IT infrastructure to a new office location is a crucial point in any move. Your business critical data may be inside the hardware that we are shifting around. That is why we have a number of IT procedures in place to prevent any issues with your IT.

Before moving your PC’s and desktop equipment we make sure to audit everything and include all sorts of detailed descriptions in our logs for relocation – whether the mouse was on the right or left being one. We will do all this as per agreed with you and within settled timescales.

More importantly is the way we treat your server room. We have a number of experienced IT removal managers who will audit and plan for your precious server to be moved. We cover technical, logistical and business concerns here as well as this we offer risk assessments and method statements. Our engineers have performed decommissioning and re-commissioning on Cisco, IBM, Compaq, Sun, Fujitsu Siemens, HP and Dell servers to name but a few.

Our decommissioning ensures your equipment is easily and safely moved. We power down, unwire and pack your IT gear as well as check it in a number of ways to make sure it is in perfect working condition. Our crates are made from strong polycarbonate and are fitted to stock your computers. This equipment is transported safely in air ride control tail lift vehicles and is logged as they are removed and placed in the prepared area.

We also test clean and audit all your equipment if you require it to be done before or during re-commissioning. So as you can see we go to great lengths to ensure the safe moving of your IT equipment.

Go Green for your Business

We live in a world that is increasingly coming to understand the effect our lifestyle has on the environment. We also need to be aware of the safety concerns of clearing out our used materials and electronics. Here, we have solutions to both.

To ensure that we can offer you the best of both worlds and what’s best for ours, Edward Baden tries to recycle every smidgen of electronic equipment we receive, though not without wiping all your precious data from it first. We work with Computer Aid International and together we aim to give the best refurbished PCs to those that need them the most. These PCs are reused by non-profit organizations in developing countries as well as educational and health organizations in our own country.

If however the equipment cannot be re-used we endeavor to ensure it is disposed of safely and to the highest European and UK Environmental Agency standards by a licensed waste management company. This altogether, ensures that only 5% of the waste we receive actually goes to the landfill.

We also understand the threat of data security and how information is destructive in the wrong hands. (We’ve seen enough James Bond films). Before we dispose of a computer we ensure all data and programmes are fully removed before they are disposed. These disks and programmes are overwritten to US Department of Defence and UK Communications Electronics Security Group (CESG) baseline and enhanced standards – once more our 007 love comes to the fore.

This service costs you no money at all and is part of our service and anything that can’t be deleted will be destroyed, though probably not in a self combustion way, ala Mission Impossible. All the same you know your data is safe and has been recycled and perhaps is even benefitting someone who really needs it.

You will also be designated a move consultant to ask any questions or discuss your needs with, this person will be on hand throughout the process to facilitate your requirements, like your own ‘Relocation Jeeves’.

We will create a detailed tailor-made move plan for you that includes exactly what you need for moving, listing any special requirements or equipment needed to move unusual or valuable items.
